Introduction To Fire Alarm System

• Importance

Saving lives is the first consideration in the event of a fire inside a building,Therefore, it is required to inform and alert people who are inside the building once fire occurrence, So they can leave before the fire spread, and they cannot escape.
Therefore there should be a means for the fire alarm inside the buildings to ensure a warning for people there is a fire.



Basic task for any alarm system is to express and discover the fire and convert it to electrical signal can operate the alarm.

When a fire occurs, the alarm system sends pulses Through electrical circuits to the control Panel which immediately run optical signal and sound signal.

• Optical signal :  Indicates the issuance of warning site.
• sound signal :   Alert the person in charge of the main oversight the presence of fire.

Based on the above , Buildings and facilities must equipped with fire alarm systems in order to protect buildings and their occupants from the dangers of fire.

Types of fire alarm systems

               

Fire alarm systems are divided into the following main types:

1) Manual fire alarm systems .

2) Automatic fire alarm systems.

1) Manual fire alarm systems .

This system works is based primarily on the fact that the person pressing the alarm button.

Manual call points are distributed in all building sections.

The alarm is triggered by breaking the glass cover, so that the signal is sent to the control panel.

Fire alarm combinations must be fed with secondary electrical source in addition to the main source so devices work in case of the main source interruption.

Map of alarm devices distributed inside the building must be next to the main entrance even easier to identify the place of fire.
It is advisable to put another map in the main phone chamber or security guard room.

2) Automatic fire alarm systems.

It is advisable to use this system in places and halls which the likelihood of the occurrence of fire is increased and the result be great destruction in a short time.
These systems operates under the influence of fire phenomena (flames or heat)
The advantage of this system is do not rely on a human in the operation.Accordingly,The time between the moment of the fire and the moment of discovery is very short.Thus clearing the way for the speed of intervention and The effectiveness of the control fire operations, Thus reducing the size of damages resulting from it.
